Three Kings Day

A Sharing Opportunity for Families and Individuals

Dia de los Reyes—Three Kings Day— is traditionally a Hispanic celebration that takes place on January 6. For our church, this day has two main purposes.

First, it is a day to remember the encounter of the baby Jesus with the Wise Men (the Three Kings). We use it to teach our children that just as the Wise Men “rejoiced exceedingly with great joy” (Matthew 2:10, ESV) when they found the Shepherd promised by the prophets, we rejoice because that Shepherd came to save us.

Second, we use this celebration as an opportunity to teach our children that just as the Wise Men gave gifts to Jesus as an act of worship, we are to give gifts to people in need as an act of worship.

In early January, a team from Iglesia del Pueblo will invite parents from our community to “shop” for Three Kings gifts for their children.

To provide new, unwrapped toys and games to fill that store with gifts suitable for boys and girls, infants through teens. Parents, involve your children in selecting a toy to give!

Use the collection bins outside the East Worship Center or in the Children’s Ministry areas.
