Twenty Years and Counting
As Senior Pastor Rob Bugh neared his twentieth anniversary at Wheaton Bible Church this past September, LIFE at Wheaton Bible Church marked the occasion by publishing an extended interview about Rob’s life and ministry. Several weeks later, Rob was honored during services on Sunday morning, September 21. Leading up to that special celebration, the congregation of Wheaton Bible Church was invited to send Rob words of greeting in honor of this milestone accomplishment. Those cards, letters, and emails, were collected into a book as a keepsake, and the following are just a few of the many messages of encouragement, congratulations, and gratitude that were received.
I appreciate that you never give the church a “free pass.” You hold us, as well as yourself, accountable for who we are (sinners), who we should be (ambassadors for Christ), and who we are in God’s eyes (His beloved and redeemed children).
From your earliest days at Wheaton Bible Church, we recall your heart for the Lord and for reaching the world. You have poured God’s Word into our minds and hearts week after week and have challenged us to examine and align our lives with God’s truths.
You always have an urgency to make sure that people in and around the church come to know Jesus. That really shines through you.
Even though we have not met face-to-face, we want you to know that our spiritual lives have been enriched since being under your teaching. Keep growing in the Lord’s grace, my brother!
From the moment my husband and I first visited WBC, we knew it was the place for us. Thank you for helping us grow in our spiritual journey.
What I appreciate most about you is the example you have been to me. You have taught me to dream big and lean into God. You have persevered in the face of tremendous loss and have remained steadfast in your faith. You have shown me what it looks like to walk humbly with God.
We pray for you daily and are asking God for His blessing as you begin a new decade as Senior Pastor at WBC.
“I am deeply encouraged and so very grateful,” Rob said of the outpouring of kindness. “I love this amazing collection of so many great memories from those I’ve walked with through the years as well as the very kind words of affirmation from those who have more recently come to our church. Thank you all for the gracious and thoughtful messages, and for allowing me to serve as your pastor.”
